“Fukko” medal is a proof of the ties that transcend national boundaries.

Ten years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake, and in the Tohoku region, large scars are being closed by the hard work of various related organizations and supporters as well as the victims. I can't go back to what I used to be, but I think the medals are entrusted with the firm intention of looking to the future and overcoming difficulties and moving forward.
At the same time, I am strongly grateful that the progress toward the future is due to the various reconstruction assistancethat has been provided since 3.11.I think that many people felt a cross-country tieswhen foreign countries rushed to the area of the great earthquake and received tangible and intangible support. The reconstruction support commemorative medal can be said to be a proof of the ties that transcend national boundaries. And this medal is also entrusted with a wish for tangibleand intangible cultural reconstruction.

Glass Art

My Wishes
heard that you received a lot of support and encouragement from overseas during the earthquake, thank you. As one of the artists who make things in Tohoku, I am honored to be able to give back with gratitude in the medal.

Techniques of Medal and Material
I mainly used the fusing technique, which is one of the glass techniques, to sandwich the pointillism of silver grains, change the color of silver by kiln change, cool it, and then cut and polish the circumference. Although it is handmade, I tried to express the appearance like a medal.

Shinichi NAKATA
Forging Metal Art

My Wishes
I deeply sympathized with the purpose of giving medals to the countries and regions that supported the participation in the Olympics and Paralympics with my sincere gratitude for the sympathies and support received from all over the world at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake. .. Nine years have passed and the world is facing new problems. At such times, the world must unite and work toward a solution. We hope that this wonderful project will be a return of gratitude and will deepen the bond to create new hope.

Techniques of Medal and Material
With the theme of deepening "bonds" around the world, we aim to create works that express the acts of "knitting," "wrapping," and "tying" through production. High-purity tin is forged into strips and actually knitted, wrapped or tied to produce. I would like to make it while praying that the act will become a form as it is and that it will be a message that transcends words and can be understood all over the world. I would like to express the importance of having a strong bond and a strong heart in the softness and kindness.

Hyodo ITO
Ceramic Art

My Wishes
The Great East Japan Earthquake claimed many lives and destroyed buildings and nature. However, I would like to thank many people at home and abroad for maintaining the bonds between people and nature and people with the support of goods (goods) and the support of the heart from home and abroad. I thought, and shaped my heart one by one by hand.

Techniques of Medal and Material
Now the world is suffering from the corona wreck. The bond between the most important people is being broken. Connecting this division is the "Mitamon" that is transmitted to my kiln, and the peach is a long life and good luck. Pomegranate is a design of many children, and Buddha's hand is a design of happiness.

Nui KUDO
Woodwork: Wisteria Bark

My Wishes
I am grateful for the support from the world sent to the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. And I wanted to cherish the connection between people.

Techniques of Medal and Material
As a material, we process and dye wisteria skin, and as a production method, we apply a knot of knitting to make a continuous shape. I made it while thinking that knotting is a connection with people and a connection. The characteristic of the material is that it is flexible, and it is light and durable.

Hisanori MASUDA
Metal Cating Art

My Wishes
I made it with hope for the rebirth of something that once declined, not just for the reconstruction that means that it will flourish again. The idea of "pseudo-death regeneration" that is born again after dying has been handed down from ancient times in the mountain worship of Dewasanzan. This metal is a product with a wish for the reproduction of death.

Technique of Medal and Material
It is a design that condenses the energy of reconstruction and regeneration into the letters R such as Reconstruction, Revive, and Rebuild, considering the meaning of the words of reconstruction. It was produced by the beauty of the cast surface, which is a feature of Yamagata casting, and the traditional finishing method of applying Ohaguro to the lacquer baking finish.

Katsunobu OSANAI
Woodwork

My Wishes
It's been almost 10 years since the earthquake. I pray that Tohoku will become an increasingly energetic and vibrant land.

Technique of Medal and material
Inspired by the checkered emblem used at the Tokyo Olympics, it is expressed in parquet. The outer circumference of the base is made of yew, and the checkered pattern is made of bright purple purple heart and beautiful white chestnut.

Mr. Tadahiro EGUCHI who is a Urushi Laquer craftman produced a new medal

My Wishes
In the process of reconstruction from the earthquake, we would like to express our gratitude to many people, including those from overseas, who have been so interested in Tohoku, and at the same time, we will continue our creative activities after the disaster, including myself. I would like to make a medal that conveys the "love for Tohoku" of everyone in the house.

Technique of Medal and Material
The landscape of the Pacific coast of Tohoku has changed completely, but the climate is still nurtured by the rich greenery and beautiful sea. Using zelkova as a material, eggshell is "sand", blue shell is "sea", and green lacquer is "pine / mountain". I tried to express the scenery of the Pacific coast of "white sand and blue pine". We would appreciate it if you could pay attention to the creative culture of the workers who participated in the project.

Mr. Naohito ITO who is a Ceramic craftman produced a new medal

Mr. Tsunehira KANBAYASHI ("Katana" Japanese Sword)
Mr. Noboru ITO ("Kumiko" Woodwork)
Mr. Toru ITO ("Kokeshi" Wooden Doll)

Mr. Bruno PIFRE (Pottery)

Ms. Kiyoko ENDO ("Sashiko" Japanese Quilting) Mr. Shinjiro NAGAI (Woodworking Funiture)

My Wishes
Many people have died in the event of 3.11, and many are still missing, which is an unforgettable memory. However, that memory fades with the passage of time at the stage of past history. Let's remember that time again and start again for a new future

Technique of Medal and Material
The material of the medal is indigo-dyed cotton tsumugi weave, and the design of the forehead is based on the image of "gassho" with prayers for the deceased and missing people, and uses the material of Yonezawa chest and 350-year-old zelkova. In addition, based on the technique of "Harakata-sashiko" that has been handed down to Yonezawa for 400 years, we have developed and produced a new technique that has different patterns on the front and back, even though it is a single piece of cloth and a single thread. Did.

Ms.Takako KOBAYASHI (Dyeing Crafts)

My Wishes
No matter what you are doing, anytime, anywhere, time will surely and evenly be ticked. I cannot go against nature and destiny, but I hope everyone will be kind and happy.

Technique of Medal and Material
It is a lotus pattern. Acrylic paint was put in a cylinder to put thread glue on the ancient silk crepe, and the cylinder was drawn, and Swarovski beads were decorated as an accent. The lining is a calf sparrow (Kissho crest) and a scallop crest (amulet), both of which are old cloth crepe. The strap is a tubular mesh. I made it happily and happily with all my favorite materials. (I put an iron plate in the weight)

Mr. Bruno PIFRE (Pottery)

My Wishes
I thought about becoming a world in peace without war or racism.

Technique of Medal and Material
Made from local soil, transparently glazed and firewood kiln.

Mr. Tsunesato MONMA (Metalworker)

Ms. Xiaofan LIU (Designer, Glassworks)

My Wishes
"Drops of water, this spring newsletter: Reward this with the size of a spring that springs up like a drop of water." I don't know when, where, or who will meet the disaster. Regardless of the amount of support, I think it is important to value that feeling and to be considerate of each other.

Technique of Medal and Material
The material is glass, which is a design that expresses "Drops of water. The size of the medal is limited, but I want to design it so that the water crest spreads out and the image of the ocean can be imagined.

Ms. Keiko HASEGAWA (Textiles Designer)

My Wishes
"9 years ago, on March 11, at Yamagata Bunshokan, with the advice of Professor Toshiro Tamada, the head of the" MURAYAMA Mirai Juku ", an earthquake occurred while the work results were being announced by the prefecture, and the wooden building was squeaky. It makes a noise and shakes. When everyone jumps out in a hurry, I remember that the stone pavement in front of the entrance was also distorted and shaken. Even now, the world is not resting every day due to damage such as the corona flood. At such times, I would like to deliver the tenacious manufacturing energy of Tohoku people to the people of the countries who have supported the world.

Technique of Medal and Material
About the material I tried to put the world of ancient Japanese Wabi-Sabi in the medal Medal The men's dent belt was likened to the Mogami River, and the era was represented by a part of an old Japanese paper book. The red obi fried is likened to safflower. Part of the method of making crops written on Japanese paper is matched with the method of making safflower. Back side I made it by sprinkling safflower on the sake bag of Yamagata brewery and Miyama Japanese paper. The weight is a bronze coin sewn on the back side.

Ms. Fumi TAKIGAWA (Glass Crafts)

My Wishes
Nine years ago, I lived in western Japan and spent a sleepless night watching the scenery of the land where I was born and raised, which is projected on TV one after another. I will never forget that scene. Thanks to the many countries for their support. I made it hoping for the Tokyo Olympics in the summer of 2021.

Technique of Medal and Material
Dark indigo, blue indigo, white indigo, heavenly color, young bamboo color, decayed leaf color, purple garden color, white, colored glass and foil are layered and melted to draw a pattern. By superimposing colors and patterns, we expressed the festival of the Olympics.

Mr. Rikei IMAI who is a Ceramic craftman produced a new medal

My Wishes
In the year of the 2011 earthquake, I had a major surgery to prepare for death. The power to recover was the pottery I had made until then. I feel my energy when I was fine, and now I am fighting illness while thinking, "I want to make something like this next time when I am fine." I am grateful that I can make a medal as a thank-you for the reconstruction after the earthquake. I would like you to feel the energy of handmade things that will help the revival and reconstruction, and continue to watch over until the complete reconstruction.

Technique of Meda and Material
The only materials are clay and red pine firewood. Without using any glaze, the ash of the firewood that has fallen on the work in the kiln is a natural glaze that melts at a high temperature. The design of the medal is "the soul of fire that produces the work" and "a plant that bears fruit and spills seeds", with a wish for regeneration, revival, and reconstruction.

Ms.Shoko KAMATA (Glass Crafts)

My Wishes
It's been nine years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, but I think there are some areas that are progressing toward reconstruction and some areas that are still lacking. I wanted to make a medal so that Tohoku could be united in the future, and I would like to express my gratitude to the people of the world who helped me in those difficult times and to convey the step-by-step progress toward reconstruction.

Technique of Meda and Material
The blue sea, the sky, and the clear air. Glittering light shines down. I put in the medal the happy scenery of everyday life that is commonplace. Using a glass technique called kiln work, I sandwiched silver foil between the glasses and baked it. Glass and silver undergo a chemical reaction and change color.

Mr. Toshihiro MUNAKATA (Pottery)

My Wishes
This time, I participated in the Tohoku Reconstruction Medal Project, and I am blessed with the opportunity to produce a reconstruction medal as a potter at the Tokyo Olympics to be held in Japan, and I feel that I will be tightened. At the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, we received the support of many people and were able to understand the importance of human relationships. This time, I hope that this project will promote the goodness of Japanese culture from Tohoku to the world.

Technique of Meda and Material
When I think about Japanese culture, I sometimes see things through my five senses.
Since pottery is an art, when you see a work, it is required that beauty is hidden in the work. Also, the material of pottery is soil, and soil has life. Humans are made alive by invisible power.
In the present age when science is advancing, I feel that the emotional power that we receive by seeing things directly and experiencing them through our five senses will be needed in the future to make the most of that technology.

Mr. Yasunori IMAI (Pottery)

My Wishes
This time, the March 11 earthquake was the year of graduating from university. I went to the disaster area to support the branch office where I had decided to work, and saw an unforgettable sight. I retired in 2018 to inherit the family business that was the origin of the kiln, and I was an inexperienced person who just entered the manufacturing path, and now that I have the opportunity to participate in this project, I will never forget about the earthquake. I made it with the intention of growing myself.

Technique of Meda and Material
I made a donut-shaped medal using the potter's wheel technique I just learned. The material is porcelain clay, which is a natural glaze made from Akamatsu firewood fired in a climbing kiln.

Mr. Matsuhiro TAKEMURA who is a woodworker produced a new medal

My Wishes
The great earthquake that left great fear and deep sadness. I believe that the great power of the people in Japan and overseas who have made efforts toward reconstruction will continue to be passed down for many years to come. Now, with gratitude for the reconstruction medal.

Technique of Medal and Material
The design of the medal expresses the hope and peace of the "children and pigeons" future with wood carving, which is my life work.

Mr. Nobuhiro SUGAWARA (Woodworking)

My Wishes
A century celebration of athletes from all over the world, devoting all of themselves to this day and winning fierce competition. It gives us the most excitement and excitement. The winner will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. As one of the people responsible for manufacturing, I made this medal with all my heart to show respect and gratitude to all the players.

Technique of Medal and Material
Mt. Chokai (elevation 2236m), which straddles the border between Yamagata and Akita prefectures, is the pride of my hometown. A large eruption occurred in 466 BC, and the trees fell asleep in deep soil for about 2500 years. The used Kamishiro cedar develops an egg color when cut out and gradually transforms into a mysterious blue tinge. I feel that I have endured for a long time and changed myself to gain an artistic depth. I chose it as the best material that is reminiscent of the life of a first-class athlete.

Ms. Yusai ITO ("Yuzen" Dyeing by Hand)

My Wishes
I made it with prayer so that I can gradually recover the daily life lost due to the Great East Japan Earthquake. I would like to express my gratitude to the people around the world for their support.

Technique of Medal and Material
I imagined the long-awaited spring where you can feel happiness in the soft light and the wind dyed in cherry blossoms. I hope you will continue to have such a wonderful time with everyone in the world. I dyed silk crepe with Yuzen. It's very soft.

Mr. Koji SUGAE (Metal Casting)

My Wishes
We made it in the hope of the happiness of those who are making progress while feeling the gratitude of being utilized by coexisting with nature in various ways in the history of Japan.

Technique of Medal and Material
Yamagata casting with a history of 950 years in Tohoku. Watanabe Bonsho is the only Bonsho production in Tohoku that has continued since the middle of the Edo period. It was created to represent the Japanese Bonsho and Bell Tower that have told the time during the four seasons of 1300.

Mr. Takahashi YUSUKE (Pottery)

Mr. Kunio OZAKI who is a woodworker produced a new medal

My Wishes
In 2010, he collapsed due to cerebral hemorrhage and left paralysis on his left side. Until then, I was making joinery and furniture as a joinery craftsman, so I was very shocked that my left hand did not move at all, but I tried to make it even if it took time, and now I only have a table with my right hand. It is now possible to make furniture and display shelves. I realized that if I didn't give up, my wish would come true, and I made the medal with the idea that continuing without giving up would lead to reconstruction.

Technique of Medal and Material
I am very honored to be able to participate in this project even if I have a disability. The material is a buried wood of elm, and the kumiko part was made using Aomori Hiba.

Ms. Natsue EMI (Cocoon Work)

My Wishes
March 11, 2011 I can't forget that day when I was in deep sorrow for the Great East Japan Earthquake, unprecedented disasters, and the wonders of nature. For the reconstruction, we received a great deal of support from Japan and other countries around the world and the support of volunteers. We participated in the medal production with a great gratitude with the wish of peace so that the earth can be a proof of our joy and bond to live at the same time.

Technique of Medal and Material
In Morioka City, the capital of Iwate Prefecture, there is a national natural monument, "Ishiwarizakura". It is a cherry tree over 360 years old that blooms by breaking a huge granite. I created it with the image of its strong vitality, the cherry blossoms that bloom in my hometown over the winter. The cocoon balls produced in the prefecture are dyed and used to make cherry blossoms, and golden cocoons (Cricula) are processed into sheets to make a base. A gorgeous medal was created by adding decorative parts made by painting the cocoon balls with Joboji lacquer.

Ms. Miyuki KUROSAWA (Oilpainting) Mr. Tadahiro EGUCHI ("Urushi" Lacquer Work)

Mr. Masahiro NOMURA who is a ceramist produced a new medal

My Wishes
Japan is a country with many natural disasters. Disasters such as the earthquake cannot be completely prevented. At such times, we receive support from all over the world for people who do not know their faces or names. I realized with gratitude how warm the human heart is.

Technique of Medal and Material
In Tono, there is a legend of a mischievous youkai called Kappa. They are bad, but they like sumo and can't hate them. There is a legend in various parts of Japan that this kappa has a universal wound medicine called kappa plaster, and it seems that any wound will stick to it immediately. The medicine that connects people is probably the heart.

Mr. Momoe KUSANAGI (Pottery)

My Wishes
When the Great East Japan Earthquake struck, I was away from Tohoku, and I was full of anxiety every day about what would happen to my hometown. Now I am back in the town where I was born and can live in my favorite place while doing my favorite work. I am happy to be able to live this daily life and hope that this daily life will continue for a long time.

Technique of Medal and Material
Pottery is made by a technique called "kneading" that creates a pattern by combining colored clay. The most distinctive feature is the pattern that cannot be expressed by this technique.

Ms. Yuko HOSHI (Pottery)

My Wishes
The area where I live did not suffer much damage from the earthquake. Is there anything that humans can do in the face of the threat of nature that has been repeated many times since ancient times? I was struck by a feeling of impermanence. Under such circumstances, I remember seeing the supporters from overseas rushing in and being impressed by the preciousness of helping each other. I am grateful for the opportunity to express my gratitude at that time in this way.

Technique of Medal and Material
For flowers that give "Hayachineus Yukisou". I made a medal with ARIGATO, a word of gratitude that is also known overseas. Hayachineus yukisou (Hayachine light snow grass) is an alpine plant that grows naturally on Mt. Hayachine, and is said to be a sister flower because it closely resembles Edelweiss (meaning elegant and beautiful white) in the European Alps. I made it from Shigaraki soil with the image of a beautiful flower that blooms noblely on the surface of the serpentine of Mt. Hayachine.

Mr. Hiroki KIUCHI who is a Urushi Laquer craftman produced a new medal

                           for Presentation                                          for Exhibition

Mr. Hisao NABETA (Pottery)

My Wishes
When I think of the time of 3.11, the memory of that time is still vividly revived. I will never forget the warm feelings from people from various countries. I wanted to convey the beauty of Tohoku, a snowy country, in a medal while thanking the people who continue to connect with each other.

Technique of Medal and Material
It expresses the beauty of a mountain stream in a snowy landscape. It is produced by the mosaic technique of combining small parts and firing in an electric furnace. Material: Glass technique, fusing, polishing, sandblasting.

Mr. Kojun NODA ("Urushi" Lacquer Work)

Mr. Eiji SHIGA (Glass Works)

My Wishes
The intricate pattern woven by a single glass line represents the many forms of reconstruction created by one thought of reconstruction.

Technique of Medal and Material
Air-blown glass that is molded while breathing into glass that is melted at 1200 ° C. The colored glass melted is tightly wrapped around the transparent glass unwound from the melting furnace, and the shape is molded while kneading. By covering the surface of the glass with silver, the pattern that can be seen inside is emphasized.

Mr. Asao YOSHIDA (Stone Carving)

My Wishes
Positioned as the reconstruction of the marginal village, I participated in making this medal. I am a mason, aiming for a sustainable settlement, which I think has a big role to play in throwing a stone.

Technique of Medal and Material
Stone species Made in India Surface / main polishing finish The pattern is said to be the flower circle pattern used in temple ceiling paintings, etc.

Mr. Takahiro OBONAI (Glass Works)

My Wishes
Sadness and memorable feelings that have lost sight of important things and are stored in memory. What you lost cannot be restored. I can't fill my sadness, but I want to give shape to my invisible hope.

Technique of Medal and Material
I made it out of glass by connecting the thoughts and hopes behind the medals in color.

Mr. Shuji KUDO (Pottery)

My Wishes
There was no way to deal with the unprecedented great earthquake, and I watched the activities of rescue teams and volunteers from abroad through the media with gratitude and respect. I had a vague desire to give back, but I couldn't do anything about it. I heard about the "Tohoku Reconstruction Medal Project" from an acquaintance in Yamagata and decided to participate immediately. I hope that my feelings will be conveyed to foreigners in the form of medals.

Technique of Medal and Material
I make pottery from a wood-fired kiln, but due to the influence of this corona sickness, I could not meet the previous delivery date and it was fired in another kiln. The material used was porcelain soil. I wanted to keep it simple as an intention, so I made it with the motif of the map of Tohoku (coastline) and the cherry blossoms that are the national flowers.

Ms. Masako MINATO (Cloisonne Work)

My Wishes
The state of reconstruction from the unprecedented earthquake, which is far beyond imagination, has been reported in many places and in his media, but the situation is still painful. I was looking for something I could do, but I hope it helps.

Technique of Medal and Material
What you can do. I wanted to express my feelings for reconstruction with cloisonne, but I will make it with the theme of his namahage that I am continuing to make. Namahage is a messenger of God. It keeps protecting and energizing us forever. I will try to make it with my own expression.

Ms. Mihoko SUZUKI (Plant Deying)

My Wishes
After the 3.11 earthquake, we were dyeing plants at the workshop, stopped the fire, and hurriedly jumped out and caught the trees. When the shaking subsided and returned, the large pot of dyeing liquid on the gas table was turned over. We are still discussing that it was night when the traffic was disrupted and each of us returned home. Just before the group exhibition in Tokyo, the work was already sent ... It was canceled, but it was a big fuss.
Even in Akita, where there is little damage, there are things like corona, but it is the happiest thing to be able to live normally and be calm. It was made in the hope of peace.

Technique of Medal and Material
For 30 years, I have been receiving colors from the nature of Akita and making use of them in my work. I think I was able to express the small blessings of nature using plenty of thread. Nature gives us great power and beauty.

Mr. Yoshiteru ITO (Glass Works)

Ms. Tomoko MURAKAMI (Pottery, Artist)

My Wishes
Our Tohoku region is surrounded by mountains and the sea, and many warm people live in the beauty of the flowers of the four seasons and the harsh climate. I made this medal with my heartfelt gratitude and hope for the future, as I love the days I am here and continue walking again.

Technique of Medal and Material
I made it while feeling the color of the sea in Miyagi, my hometown, deep blue and pure, surrounded by the gentleness and roughness of the waves. I decorated the rough red clay with some glaze

Ms. Kanami OGATA (Glass Works)

My Wishes
The house I grew up in in Ishinomaki and my father's boat, which was a fisherman, were severely damaged and our lives have changed dramatically. Even under such circumstances, I participated in the production of medals with gratitude to my overseas friends who encouraged and helped me. I also thought about the design with the meaning of support because I wanted to cheer up my father who has been fighting illness after the tsunami.

Technique of Medal and Material
The motif is a big catch flag. A congratulatory flag given as a celebration when a fishing boat departs. We also incorporated a herd of saury into the design. My father's boat was a saury fishing boat, so I've been watching the boats depart and land since I was a kid. I think that the beauty of the belly of the fish shining during a big catch is a landscape unique to the Sanriku coast. The five saury in the foreground are color-coded like a raden, similar to the Olympic symbol. Taking advantage of the transparency unique to glass, it gives depth and represents the size of the sea.

Ms. Rumiko SAITO (Dyeing Works)

My Wishes
Nine years have passed since the earthquake, but it's still the current situation. I would like to cooperate with the reconstruction over a long period of time.

Technique of Medal and Material
It was difficult to put your feelings into a small medal. It is an expression with a woven cloth that you can do and a dyed cloth. The image of the blue sea, the sunlight, and the flowers is included.

Ms. Manabu OUCHI (Glass Works)

My Wishes
We would like to thank you for your great cooperation in the restoration and reconstruction activities of the affected areas in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. I am very grateful that I can express my gratitude for your support in the form of a medal at the timing of the Tokyo Olympics.

Technique of Medal and Material
A medal that combines glass and wood. I made it by pouring melted glass into a wooden pattern and combining the parts with the wooden surface of the man on the glass and the buried chestnut wood from Yamagata prefecture.

Mr. Kunio SAITO ("Urushi" Laquer Works)

Mr. Yasuo TAKEDA (Pottery)

Mr. Ritsuko NANBA (Glass Works)

My Wishes
Fukushima Prefecture was hit by an earthquake, tsunami, nuclear power plant explosion and unprecedented disaster. I feel grateful to be able to live my daily life for nine years, spending days that I do not know what will happen tomorrow. I hope it will be a message from Fukushima, which is heading for reconstruction with the assistance of various people and the country.

Technique of Medal and Material
There are rows of cherry blossom trees and a group of decorative horizontal holes in the area that was closed due to the nuclear accident. I would like to make glass with the motif of paintings from the Kofun period and flowers and cherry blossoms that represent Japan.

Ms. Fusae KIKUCHI (Cloisonne Works)

My Wishes
Hoping for the success of the Tokyo Olympics and the celebration of the century, we have created a work that is simple yet dynamic. The title is "Flying". The cheering flag is the checkerboard of the emblem of the Tokyo Olympics, and the wings of the birds are colored in five colors.

Technique of Medal and Material
Using the technique of wired cloisonne in cloisonne, we expressed the warmth and the power of ties of many people all over the world toward the Tokyo Olympics.

Mr. Reiko FUJITA (Glass Works)

Ms. Noriko KONNO (Pottery)

My Wishes
I live in the southern part of Akita prefecture on the Sea of Japan side. There was almost no damage from the earthquake. Despite this, I couldn't help, but when I was wondering if there was anything I could do, I wrote in the newspaper, "Support received from all over the world in the Great East Japan Earthquake. I was deeply moved and participated in the idea of "let's express my gratitude to you." We are proud to be able to help you with a little effort.

Medal Concept and Characteristic Point
11-sided star ... I want you to live your life shining like a diamond
Sunflowers ... Sunflowers bloom toward the sun. I want you to live your life positively.
Arrows are shaving patterns, kumiko patterns ... Traditional Japanese patterns. Promote Japan.

Technique of Medal and Material
Pottery / circular medals, wall decorations, cradle, etc.

Ms. Eri OZAKI (Textyle Works)

My Wishes
We cherish the old teaching of valuing "mottainai" things, and remake the kimonos that we no longer wear into clothes, etc. I made it.

Technique of Medal and Material
Thank you for participating in the reconstruction commemorative medal production project. I thought that kimono is good for expressing Japaneseness, so I made it by combining various kimono fabrics with the main body wood.

Ms. Madoka SENDA (Woodworks)

My Wishes
Since I was away from Tohoku at the time of the disaster, I was spared from the disaster, but my family, relatives, and classmates living in Ishinomaki were affected, and while I was aware of the disaster situation and the predicament in my life, it was effective for me as an individual. I was distressed that I couldn't do anything about it. I was wondering if I would return to my hometown when the reconstruction was progressing and spend time with nothing special about the reconstruction, but now I have the opportunity to make a recovery medal. Since I couldn't do anything at that time, I would like to express my gratitude to those who supported the disaster area through the production of reconstruction medals.

Technique of Medal and Material
With the theme of regeneration and the sea of Ishinomaki, we chose flowers and Qinghai waves as motifs and devised a design. Taking advantage of the unique color of the wood, the parquet is carved to express the Qinghai wave and flowers.

My Wishes
The sight of Furusato that I witnessed after the 3.11 tsunami was so terrifying and unrealistic that I was forced to freeze my thoughts and feelings. Everyone had lost many acquaintances and relatives, but had a time when they couldn't shed tears. It was true that people wouldn't even cry in front of their sorrow. Now Ofunato and Rikuzentakata have changed into completely different cities. I have no choice but to think that Furusato has been reborn rather than reconstruction.

Technique of Medal and Material
Ofunato City and Rikuzentakata City seem to change without retaining their former vestiges, but despite being a northern country, the warm climate and low snowfall have not changed, and both cities use the city's flowers as "camellia." I thought it would be best to entrust the image symbol of the reborn Furusato to "Tsubaki", so I made it a medal.

Mr. Rintaro MIZUKUCHI (Artist) Tadanori EGUCHI ("Urushi" Laquer Works)

My Wishes
Not only people's lives but also one "culture" of Tohoku was seriously damaged by the earthquake. I lived in Tokyo, but the bad news I hear every day made me realize the depth of the scars. However, unless the heat of people cools down, the fire of "culture" will not run out. In Tohoku in recent years, I feel a burning intention for reconstruction, which is more than the pain I suffered. The fire was trapped in a medal as a symbol of the wonderful culture of "Tohoku" and the eternal heat of people.

Technique of Medal and Material
Hentaigana has been used since Heian to pursue the aesthetic expression of character strings. With the cooperation of lacquer craftsmen, the three-dimensional calligraphy "Tohoku" shape realized by the latest 3D printer with the highest 3D precision, which draws the flow of the handwriting into a three-dimensional space and aims to acquire further artistry. , I will trap the skill and heat. Calligraphy LULUCANA ".
